The following is an excerpt from the award presentation speech
given by Bruce Caldwell, VP First Citizens Bank:
"First
Citizens Bank is honored to partner with the Chamber of Commerce
in presenting the 2nd Annual First Citizens Bank Amazing Customer
Service award to a local business that shares our belief that
exemplary customer service is paramount to a company’s success.
This year’s recipient exceeds all the criteria…and
could write the book on Customer Service. And if one were to capture
all the tips and best practices advice that she has shared so
willingly as a regular Wednesday morning participant in the Morehead
City Small Business Roundtable, it literally would fill a book.
She not only practices ‘Amazing Customer Service,’
she preaches it…
"Patti
routinely greets her customers within seconds of when they cross
the threshold of her store…and so does Solly, the red Cairn
terrier who, I’m told, is the ‘official canine greeter’.
Patti’s enthusiasm for helping customers solve their fabric
problems is matched only by her knowledge of the products she
sells. She has the knack for ‘reading customers’,
many of whom come in with only a vague idea of what they’re
looking for. They leave not only with the right fabric, but a
design and a plan. She is also very good at ‘rescuing customers’—helping
them made good decisions, because as Patti says: ‘Life is
TOO short to waste on ugly fabric’…
"She
builds trust, and that builds loyal customers who return again
and again…
